After afghans, I got Moofie! She was a leggy, black standard
girl, who had been in 2 abusive situations before i got her.
and---further abuse!----some person, utterly lacking in
creativity or specificity---had named her F--i ( you fill in the
blanks!---we still won't speak this name aloud in my home!)
obviously we weren't going to call her by this absolute cliche.
So, after living with her a while, and discovering the hard way
that no fruit or vegetable left out was safe from this girl, I
named her Muffaletta, which is a traditional vegetable sandwich
made by Italian-Americans in New Orleans. hence Moofie, the
Moofster---smart and funny, and just a hoot! The vet and I
figured she was about 15 mos old when i got her in 1982, and she
finally left us in 2003 for an age of at least 22 years!. (the
late John Armstrong had gotten a sample of blood from Moofie,
even tho we never knew her pedigree or background, because she
was so long-lived. Ironically, he himself died unexpectedly
before it could be used) Needless to say, there would never be
any other breed for me after Moofie. I started getting other
spoos as pets: Lucy and Mocha, and all this while I followed
what was going on in the breed, but couldn't bring myself to
deal with the "outfit" (the continental clip) required for the
show ring.

Ch Arctus Ice Wiz Of Whisperwind
... and then I went to get a white boy----as a pet, of
course----when I happened on a lovely litter of 11 white babies
bred by Susn Palmer in Middletown, MD. when i got my baby boy
home, it occurred to me that his little topline was as straight
as a ruler....and his head was gorgeous, with a great grin, and
he was up on leg, and, and....well he goofed around as a puppy,
and I learned to deal with coat change and growing hair----thank
God he has a "good" coat!-------- but when he went out at age 16
months, he finished in a month! and I was hooked.
Caspar finished August 10 2002 with 4 majors, 17 points. A great
job by his handler, Adriano Rocha. |

... and soon I realized I needed a brood
bitch, so i followed caspar's lines back to Whisperwind, and got
feisty little " 'moomie"---a Whisperwind/Litilann cross, who has
proven to be the BEST mommy dog in the whole universe! A) she is
poodley beyond belief and she has gorgeous babies, and, B) she
takes total care of them for as long as they're with us. I have
2 4-mos. old showbabies now, and when the little goobers think
it's cute not to come in when they're called, I tell moomie to
go get them, and get them she does! |
